The Group Technology & Transformation Executive for Botswana provides executive leadership for Old Mutual Botswana’s technology, digital, data and transformation agenda. The role is accountable for stable, secure and resilient IT operations, disciplined technology investment, effective transformation delivery, responsible use of data and AI, and technology risk management. It ensures technology enables business strategy, customer experience, operational efficiency and regulatory compliance. It partners with the Botswana Executive Committee (Exco) and Old Mutual Limited (OML) Group Technology to prioritise technology investment, make clear commercial trade-offs, and deliver business value within Group architecture, security, governance and platform standards. The role reports to the Botswana Group Chief Executive Officer.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead the development and implementation of the country technology strategy, anticipating complex issues, challenges and opportunities and ensuring integration with wider corporate strategy.
- Translate business strategy into country-specific technology roadmaps aligned to OML Group target architecture, platforms and guardrails.
- Develop a strategic enterprise architecture plan that embeds digital assets and capabilities, supporting the design and implementation of digital strategy and organisation, process and policies.
- Lead analysis, evaluation and development of enterprise long-term strategic and operating plans to ensure the enterprise architecture stays synchronised with changing business needs and the complexity of digital transformation.
- Horizon-scan to identify new external developments and emerging issues within technology or a business function and evaluate their potential impact on the organisation.
- Lead and develop the Botswana IT function and teams, including digital and data teams, infrastructure and service teams.
- Ensure stable, secure and resilient IT service delivery that supports business continuity, customer service and employee productivity.
- Own the country IT budget and IT Total Cost of Ownership optimisation, ensuring spend is prioritised, commercially justified and aligned to business value.
- Ensure the Botswana technology function operates effectively within Group governance, architecture, security and platform standards.
- Provide Exco with clear visibility of IT performance, technology risks, delivery priorities, cost drivers, vendor performance and key technology decisions.
- Accountable for local engineering and delivery of digital channels and customer-facing platforms, data pipelines, integration, analytics enablement and AI-enabled capabilities, automation and advanced analytics.
- Ensure digital, data and analytics delivery supports measurable outcomes including improved customer experience, operational efficiency, service quality, risk management and revenue enablement.
- Strengthen data governance through clear data ownership, data quality, secure data use, regulatory compliance and alignment to Group data standards.
- Ensure AI and automation initiatives are responsibly governed, risk-assessed, appropriately prioritised and aligned to business value, regulatory expectations and Group standards.

Requirements
- Minimum of 10-15 years’ experience in IT, with at least 5-8 years in a senior leadership or executive role. Senior IT leadership experience in financial services or regulated industries is strongly preferred.
- Proven experience leading transformation, technology operations and digital and data initiatives, vendor-managed environments and technology risk management.
- Strong commercial acumen, with experience in technology investment prioritisation, budget ownership, cost optimisation, business case development and benefits realisation.
- Experience working with executive teams and senior stakeholders to align technology decisions with business strategy.
- Strong understanding of multi-business environments including Life Insurance, General Insurance, Asset Management, Banking or other regulated financial services.
- Relevant degree in IT, Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Business or a related field.
- Master’s degree (e.g. MBA, MSc in IT or a related discipline) is strongly preferred.
- Enterprise architecture literacy, cybersecurity and cloud platform fluency, and cloud professional-level certification, plus a transformation delivery track record. Certifications such as TOGAF, CISA, CISSP, PMP, PRINCE2, SAFe, PROSCI, ACMP, AWS or Azure are strongly preferred.
