Key Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the development and execution of the organisation’s strategy by translating Business Banking objectives into actionable plans, targets, and performance frameworks.
  • Drive sustainable growth in the Business Banking portfolio by expanding lending, deposits (particularly CASA), and transactional banking volumes in line with approved targets.
  • Develop and execute client acquisition and retention strategies, including segmentation of SME and business clients, to increase market share and deepen customer relationships.
  • Lead the development of value propositions and tailored financial solutions for business clients, ensuring alignment with customer needs and market opportunities.
  • Oversee end-to-end credit processes, including origination, assessment, approval, and monitoring, ensuring adherence to credit policies, risk appetite, and regulatory requirements.
  • Monitor and actively manage the quality of the loan book, including early identification of risk, implementation of corrective actions, and collaboration with Risk and Collections to minimise non-performing loans.
  • Drive non-interest revenue growth through payments, cash management, trade finance, and other transactional banking solutions, increasing the bank’s share of client wallet.
  • Ensure delivery of high-quality, efficient service by improving turnaround times, streamlining processes, and enhancing overall customer experience across all Business Banking touchpoints.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders (Products, Risk, Operations, Finance, MIS, Digital) to optimise product offerings, pricing, processes, and systems to support Business Banking growth.
  • Provide strategic input into product development and innovation, ensuring that Business Banking solutions remain competitive and relevant to the market.
  • Ensure full compliance with regulatory requirements, internal policies, and governance standards, safeguarding the Bank against financial, operational, and reputational risk.
  • Lead, develop, and build a high-performance Business Banking team by setting clear targets, driving accountability, and fostering a strong sales and customer-centric culture.
  • Monitor performance against agreed targets and KPIs, analyse business trends, and implement corrective actions to address performance gaps.
  • Prepare and present periodic management reports on Business Banking performance, including financial results, portfolio quality, and strategic initiatives, to Executive Management and the Board.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key external stakeholders, including regulators, industry bodies, and strategic partners, to support business growth and market positioning.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Banking, Business Administration or related field
  • Master’s degree (MBA or equivalent) is an added advantage
  • At least ten (10) years’ experience in banking or financial services, with a minimum of three (3) years at senior management level in Business or SME Banking.
