Key Responsibilities

  • Manage budget preparation processes, working capital and monthly financial reporting.
  • Manage internal and external audits.
  • Support the preparation of Board, and board sub Committees as well as Group reporting.
  • Prepare and submit annual financial statements.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant laws and regulations.
  • Develop and align governance and compliance policies to identify and manage risk exposure related to the area of specialisation.
  • Enhance, implement and maintain financial control processes throughout the business.
  • Lead, coach and mentor staff across all business pillars to improve organisational capacity and business sustainability.
  • Review, assess and manage the implementation of effective business processes.
  • Establish and maintain effective internal and external relationships with key stakeholders to ensure the credibility and sustainability of the business.
  • Oversee cash flow, investments, liquidity and balance sheet management.

Requirements

  • Chartered Accountant (CA).
  • CA with at least five years’ post-qualifying experience in a corporate environment.
  • MBA & COP will be an added advantage.
  • At least 5 years’ working experience in a financial services organisation (preference will be given to insurance).
  • At least 5 years’ experience in a financial management environment.
  • At least 5 years’ experience in managing people.
  • Working experience and knowledge of the SAP accounting system.
  • International Financial Reporting Standards.
  • MS Office Suite (specifically Advanced Excel and PowerPoint).
  • Professional business writing skills.
  • Knowledge of IFRS, GAAP, local relevant tax and VAT regulations, the long-term insurance industry, the Companies Act, Labour Act and other relevant legislation.
  • The ability to interact with customers and key role players in an effective and efficient manner.
  • Demonstrates leadership in a cross-functional team context.
  • Ability to systematically identify, analyse and resolve existing and anticipated problems.
