A senior leadership role responsible for driving financial strategy, ensuring robust financial control, strengthening stewardship of assets, and supporting the company’s long-term growth and profitability objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement financial strategies that align with business goals and market conditions.
- Provide forward-looking financial insights and modeling to guide decision-making at executive and board levels.
- Drive budgeting, forecasting, scenario planning, and performance monitoring processes.
- Lead accurate and timely preparation of financial statements in compliance with IFRS and NBFIRA prudential reporting requirements.
- Manage external audits, regulatory submissions, and liaison with statutory bodies (e.g., NBFIRA, BURS).
- Ensure adherence to internal financial policies and controls.
- Oversee cash flow planning, investment management, and capital allocation.
- Identify financial risks (liquidity, credit, market) and implement mitigation frameworks.
- Lead the annual budgeting process and monitor cost performance.
- Direct, mentor, and develop the finance team.
- Support the CEO and executive management in presenting financial performance to the Board of Directors.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field.
- Master’s degree (MBA, MSc Finance, or equivalent) is advantageous.
- Chartered Accountant (CA) / ACCA / CIMA / CPA or equivalent professional qualifications strongly preferred.
- Minimum 8 – 12+ years’ experience in finance leadership roles – ideally within the insurance, financial services, or banking sectors.
- Proven track record in financial planning, reporting, compliance, and strategic leadership at a senior level.
- Hands-on experience with regulatory bodies and financial institutions.
- Expert knowledge of financial accounting standards (IFRS), insurance accounting (e.g., premium recognition, reserves), and risk frameworks.
- Strong competence in financial systems (ERP software, reporting tools).
- Familiarity with Botswana’s regulatory frameworks: NBFIRA regulations, Companies Act, tax legislation.
