Key Responsibilities
- Lead the end-to-end recruitment of permanent employees and the high-volume recruitment and deployment of seasonal workers for harvesting and packing operations.
- Design, coordinate and continuously improve onboarding and induction programmes for permanent and seasonal employees, ensuring every new employee is properly introduced to the company, their role, policies and conditions of employment.
- Lead annual workforce planning across farming, packhouse and support functions, aligned with operational needs, productivity targets and approved headcount budgets.
- Manage the full employment contract cycle, including drafting, issuing, renewing and terminating contracts, as well as service-level agreements, employee records, job profiles, organisational structures and job grading.
- Lead employee and industrial relations, including union engagement, wage negotiations, grievance handling, disciplinary hearings, incapacity matters and dispute resolution.
- Advise managers on Botswana labour legislation, with particular emphasis on the Employment and Labour Relations Act, 2025 (ELRA) and the latest labour law amendments, and ensure that company policies, contracts and procedures are aligned with these requirements.
- Prepare and submit applications and representations to the Department of Health and other relevant authorities, as required.
- Maintain audit-ready HR systems and records and support compliance with ethical and social standards, including SIZA, GLOBALG.A.P. GRASP, SMETA and customer requirements.
- Coordinate learning and development, mandatory training, leadership development, succession planning and skills-development initiatives.
- Oversee performance management, talent identification, employee engagement, wellness initiatives and organisational culture programmes.
- Partner with Payroll to support accurate wages, overtime, piece-rate and hourly remuneration, benefits and the resolution of payroll queries.
- Manage HR systems, time and attendance, personal files, document control, confidentiality, HR budgets, service providers and monthly HR reporting.
