The Trustees of the Botswana Ash Staff Pension Fund (“the Fund”) are in the process of appointing a qualified and experienced individual to serve on the Fund as an Independent Trustee. The Fund is a Defined Contribution pension fund which is registered and approved by the Non-Bank Financial Institutions Regulatory Authority (NBFIRA).

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the Fund in the best interest of the Members in accordance with the provisions of the Retirement Funds Act its Regulations, Fund Rules as well as any other applicable Legislation;
  • Act independently and exercise their powers in a manner that is impartial and not influenced by inappropriate considerations;
  • Ensure that adequate and appropriate information is communicated to the Members and beneficiaries informing them of their rights, duties and benefits in relation to the Fund.

Requirements

  • Must have a degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting or Actuarial sciences.
  • Must have experience in the retirement fund or financial services industry, as well as experience serving as a Board Member, which is not limited to a specific field related to retirement funds;
  • Must have sound knowledge of corporate governance;
  • Must have good communication skills as well as the required time and commitment to fulfil the role.
  • The interested individual should have access to internet and be available to attend meetings virtually or physically.
