LECTURER IN SOCIOLOGY
VACANCY NO: FSS/SOC 2/2019
Duties: The successful candidate will be expected to: (i) teach undergraduate and graduate courses in the areas of Criminology/Criminal Justice, Research Methods, plus any other substantive areas as determined by the Department of Sociology; (ii) supervise student research projects and theses at both undergraduate and graduate levels; (iii) conduct research in their area of expertise; (iv) provide service to the community; (vi) carry out duties as assigned by the Head of Department. Teaching and research experience in any three of the following areas will be considered as an advantage: Cyber Crime, Organized Crime, Risk Management Forensic Criminology, Profiling, Crime Prevention, Environmental Criminology, Victimology, Policy Analysis, Criminal Justice and Psychology of Criminal Behavior and Policing.
Requirements: Applicants for the position should have: (i) a Master’s degree in Criminology/Criminal Justice Studies; (ii) a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminology/Sociology or relevant discipline with at least a 2(i) pass and an overall aggregate not less than 3.6. Applicants should show evidence of engagement in research and service. A relevant PhD, teaching experience at a university or comparable institution and evidence of effective leadership skills will be added advantages.
