Department: School of Pure and Applied Sciences / Department of Chemical and Forensic Sciences. Provide and facilitate teaching and learning, and assessment in Chemistry with special interest in Organic Chemistry, and Drug Discovery and Development.
Key Responsibilities
- Undertake Organic Chemistry, and Drug Discovery and Development curriculum design and development, planning of modules and innovative teaching and learning methods.
- Participate in the regular review of the undergraduate and graduate programmes in the department.
- Conduct individual research or work on collaborative research/projects.
- Participate in community engagements activities.
- Source external and internal research funding from national and international organizations.
- Teaching and student outcomes.
- Research and scholarly activity.
- Student supervision.
- Service and professional development.
- Community and professional impact.
Requirements
- A PhD in Chemistry or PhD in the related discipline with specialization in Organic Chemistry, and/or Drug Discovery and Development.
- Familiar with a core curriculum of relevant subject areas.
- Experience in teaching Organic Chemistry and Drug Discovery and Development Modules at BSc/MSc/PhD levels will be an added advantage.
- Experience: Good research record or evidence of research potential or industry experience or at least two research papers one of the publications in a reputable refereed journal.
- Experience of teaching at the Undergraduate/Post Graduate levels is an added advantage.
- At least 2 years’ experience in either teaching/lecturing/research or industry experience in Organic Chemistry and Drug Discovery and Development is an added advantage.
