The Group’s core activity is short to medium term finance through various financing types such as Property Mortgage Re-finance, Property Bridging Finance, Property Development Loans, Vehicle Re-finance, Pawn Short – Medium Term Secured Financing), Purchase Order Finance, Invoice Discounting Finance, Personal and SME Overdraft Facility, SME Secured Term Loans, Micro-Lending (Short – Medium Term Unsecured Finance)

We are seeking a proactive, experienced, and commercially minded Legal Team Supervisor to join our team and support our operations through expert legal guidance and strategic support.

Key Responsibilities:

• Debt Collection Litigation:
  • Oversee and manage legal debt recovery processes.
  • Represent the company in court and manage external counsel where applicable.
  • Draft pleadings, applications, and legal correspondence related to collections and enforcement.

• Legal Agreements and Contracts:
  • Draft, review, and negotiate loan agreements, service contracts, and other commercial agreements.
  • Ensure all agreements are legally sound, risk-appropriate, and compliant with regulatory requirements.

• Legal Advisory & Risk Management:
  • Provide in-house legal advice on lending operations, collections, compliance, and risk-related matters.
  • Advise on regulatory and statutory developments affecting the business.
  • Support internal teams in managing legal risks and resolving legal disputes.

• Corporate and Compliance Support:
  • Assist with company secretarial duties and governance matters (if required).
  • Ensure internal practices align with applicable laws, including the Financial Intelligence Act and Data Protection laws.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Law (LLB) and admitted to practice law in Botswana.
• A minimum of 3 – 5 years’ legal experience, with strong exposure to debt recoveries, litigation and commercial law.
• Experience in the financial services or lending industry is a strong advantage.
• Solid knowledge of debt recovery processes and financial regulation.
• Strong drafting, negotiation, and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently, manage multiple matters, and make sound legal judgments under pressure.
