Master Farmer Feeds (Pty) Ltd has a vacancy for fully qualified and experienced Maintenance Fitter at its Feed Mill, Nutri Feeds Botswana in Pilane. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing maintenance, repairs, equipment and components installation tasks of a high-capacity feed mill facility as well as leading a small team of artisans.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Ensuring that all scheduled maintenance on plant equipment is undertaken within the prescribed timeframe to minimize equipment failure, ensure that pellet Mills are correctly set and lubricated
• Troubleshoot and repair mechanical issues in mixers, grinders, conveyors, pellet presses, and other plant machinery.
• Responding to all mechanical breakdowns timeously to ensure minimum downtime
• Attending to all assigned daily job cards as per required timeframes
• Carry out installations, modifications, and upgrades to equipment as required.
• Ensure all maintenance work is completed safely and complies with site and industry regulations.
• Ensuring the proper maintenance of equipment and tools by cleaning and checking equipment and tools after use.
• Respond to emergency breakdowns and provide prompt solutions.
• Maintain accurate records of work performed, including maintenance data, material usage, and breakdown reports.
• Collaborate effectively with other artisans, departments and the production team to resolve operational issues and coordinate activities.
• Strictly adhere to all safety guidelines, protocols, regulations to prevent accidents and ensure a safe working environment (g., Lockout/Tag Out, Hot Works, Confined Spaces, Elevated Work etc)
• Ensure a high standard of housekeeping in the work area.
• Undertake any other duties that falls within your skillset and expertise as maybe requested from time to time.

To qualify for the position, candidates will require the following:

• National Craft Certificate (NCC) – Maintenance Fitting or Mechanical Fitter qualifications from a recognised institution.
• Minimum of 3 – 5 years of post-apprenticeship experience as a Fitter, preferably in a manufacturing, plant, or heavy industrial environment. Experience in a feed mill setting is highly advantageous.
• Strong ability to read and interpret technical drawings and manuals.
• Strong understanding of mechanical systems, hydraulics, pneumatics, and welding.
• Solid mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
• Strong leadership skills.
• Demonstrated commitment to health and safety standards.
• Ability to work at heights and in confined spaces.
• Physically fit and able to handle the demands of the job, including lifting heavy objects.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team.
• Must be a citizen of Botswana
