The Manager: Marketing and Branding is responsible for planning, organizing, developing and leading the execution of University-wide marketing and branding strategies, initiatives, campaigns and activities to enhance the University’s visibility, reputation and engagement with its target audiences. The position holder will provide strategic marketing and branding advice in support of product development, customer journey and experience and marketing positioning to support the University’s mission and objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist to develop and implement comprehensive marketing programmes and strategies to promote the University’s programmes, events, and achievements;
  • Manage digital marketing campaigns, including social media, email marketing, and online advertising;
  • Conduct market research and analyse data to identify trends, opportunities and areas for improvement;
  • Establish data management and tracking systems to monitor the University’s marketing efforts;
  • Collaborate with academic and other relevant departments to create targeted marketing materials, campaigns and manage marketing or exhibit spaces;
  • Monitor and analyse campaign performance metrics to measure the effectiveness of marketing efforts and Return on Investment;
  • Maintain and enhance the University’s brand identity and ensure consistent application across all communications and materials;
  • Develop brand guidelines and ensure compliance across all departments and external partners;
  • Create compelling content that reflects the University’s mission, values, and achievements;
  • Oversee the design and production of marketing collateral, including brochures, flyers, and multimedia content;
  • Manage and lead public education on the University’s products and services;
  • Plan, coordinate, and execute university events, including open days, graduation ceremonies, and community outreach programmes;
  • Manage event logistics, including budgeting, vendor relationships, and on-site coordination;
  • Develop promotional strategies to increase event attendance and engagement;
  • Ensure events align with the university’s brand and strategic goals;
  • Oversee the operations of the university merchandise shop, ensuring a diverse and appealing product range;
  • Develop and implement merchandising strategies to drive sales and enhance brand visibility;
  • Coordinate the design, production, and distribution of merchandise for university events and promotions;
  • Conduct market research to identify new merchandise opportunities and trends;
  • Monitor sales and financial performance of merchandise, adjusting strategies as needed;
  • Manage inventory, pricing, and vendor relationships to optimize profitability;
  • Coordinate promotional activities and special offers to attract customers;
  • Provide excellent customer service ensuring client and stakeholder satisfaction;
  • Establish and maintain partnerships with relevant internal and external stakeholders to enable effective delivery of the departmental mandate, as necessary;
  • Resolve customer enquiries and issues in a timely and efficient manner;
  • Identify and address areas of improvement for customer and stakeholder experience;
  • Assist with the development and management of the departmental budget;
  • Develop and manage Marketing and Branding risk register with clear mitigation strategies;
  • Contribute to the development of the University’s and departmental strategies, policies, plans and procedures, and lead implementation at a unit level;
  • Develop and implement marketing and branding strategies, as well as associated public relations plans in line with the departmental strategy;
  • Manage the unit’s operational performance against established goals and objectives identifying areas for improvement and recommending corrective action as needed and Undertake any other duties as directed by the supervisor in line with the role.

Requirements

  • Have a minimum of a Master’s degree in Marketing, Branding, Communications, Business Administration, or related field;
  • Be a member of recognized professional body (e.g. PRISA, CIM, IABC).
  • A minimum of six (6) years relevant work experience, with at least three (3) years at senior professional/officer level. Higher Education experience is preferred.
  • Proficiency in digital marketing tools, content management systems, and analytics platforms;
  • Strong project management and organizational skills;
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication abilities;
  • Creativity and the ability to think strategically;
  • Understanding of market research techniques and data analysis;
  • A valid driver’s license and willingness to travel.
