Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute the acquiring product strategy in alignment with the Bank’s digital and payments strategy.
  • Drive acquisition of new merchants across key segments (SMEs, corporates, government, and informal sector), including POS, e-commerce, QR, and digital payment solutions.
  • Manage and optimise the performance of the acquiring portfolio, including transaction volumes, revenues, and merchant activity levels.
  • Ensure effective deployment, utilisation, and lifecycle management of POS devices and digital payment solutions.
  • Enhance the Bank’s digital payments ecosystem by integrating acquiring solutions with mobile banking, agency banking, and merchant platforms.
  • Monitor merchant activity and implement initiatives to increase transaction volumes, reduce dormancy, and improve merchant engagement.
  • Ensure seamless merchant onboarding, device installation, and after-sales support to deliver a superior merchant experience.
  • Work closely with IT and Digital teams to ensure system uptime, platform stability, and continuous improvement of acquiring solutions.
  • Ensure compliance with card scheme rules (e.g., Visa, Mastercard), regulatory requirements, and internal policies.
  • Monitor fraud, chargebacks, and disputes, and implement effective mitigation and control measures.
  • Collaborate with Business Banking and Sales teams to drive merchant acquisition and cross-selling of banking products.
  • Manage vendor and partner relationships, ensuring service level agreements, cost efficiency, and performance standards are met.
  • Drive innovation in acquiring, including new payment technologies, digital wallets, QR payments, and e-commerce solutions.
  • Prepare and present regular reports on acquiring performance, including volumes, revenue, merchant growth, and system performance.
  • Build and lead a high-performing acquiring team, ensuring clear targets, accountability, and continuous capability development.
  • PERFORMS SUCH OTHER RELATED ACTIVITIES AS DIRECTED BY THE HEAD, PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT AND DIGITAL CHANNELS

Requirements

  • Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Finance, Payments, or related field
  • Experience:
  • At least five (5) to eight (8) years’ experience in payments, acquiring, or merchant services, including at least two (2) years in a supervisory role.
