Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, monitor, and review policies, programs, and strategies for the reduction/elimination of environmental impact.
- Ensure that the Company’s environmental management strategies and programs are effectively communicated and implemented.
- Review and recommend updates and improvements to environmental management systems.
- Assist line management in identification and assessment of site environmental hazards and risks and apply appropriate risk management strategies.
- Advise on legal requirements and standards for site activities and recommend systems and strategies for compliance.
- Ensure environmental reports for statutory, corporate and legislative requirements are timeously compiled.
- Ensure a safe work environment in compliance with Khoemacau Copper Mining Safety and Health standards and procedures.
- Conduct regular environmental audits and inspections.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Environmental Management, or equivalent.
- A post-graduate qualification in environmental management or similar field would be an advantage.
- At least 8 years’ experience in a similar role; 3 years of which should have been at a managerial role in the mining industry.
- Experience working with various regulators and knowledge of Botswana’s environmental regulatory requirements.
- Extensive knowledge of the ISO 14001 management system.
- Excellent report writing and communication skills.
- Valid Driver’s License.
