The Maun Congregation of the Dutch Reformed Church (DRC) in Botswana invites suitably qualified and experienced candidates to apply for the position of Minister. The Maun congregation is a young and growing faith community with approximately 70 active members, drawn from diverse denominational backgrounds. Over the past few years, the congregation has experienced significant growth and continues to strengthen its presence within the wider community. The position is offered on a five-year tenure.
Key Responsibilities
- Preaching the Word of God
- Administering the Sacraments, including performing formal ministerial duties
- Leading church services in both Afrikaans and English
- Providing Christian teaching in cooperation with elders and congregation members
- Exercising pastoral care, with particular emphasis on home visitation
- Working collaboratively with the Church Council
- Striving to expand the Kingdom of God within the congregation and the wider community
- Serving as Chairperson of the Church Council
- Managing, organizing, and governing the congregation together with the Elders and Deacons.
Requirements
- A Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree, including at least two (2) years of Greek and Hebrew, and
- A Bachelor of Theology (B.Th.) degree from a university training ministers for the Dutch Reformed Church, or
- A Licentiate in Theology (Lic.Th.) diploma from a university training ministers for the Dutch Reformed Church.
- Must be bilingual in Afrikaans and English
- A minimum of two (2) years’ experience as a Minister within the Dutch Reformed Church
