Job Title: Operations Controller
Location: Gaborone, Botswana
Key Responsibilities
- Receive and process all incoming parcels, including accurately recording dimensions and weight.
- Verify that the number of parcels received or delivered corresponds with waybills and invoices.
- Assist third-party service providers with collections as required.
- Ensure all goods are correctly labelled, marked, branded, stamped, stencilled, or perforated, and properly parcelled, wrapped, or secured for handling and transport.
- Control and supervise the accurate loading of freight, including performing general manual handling duties where necessary.
- Inspect all received freight for damages, discrepancies in quantity, or incorrect parts, and report any variances.
- Ensure waybills correspond with loading copies and that accurate records are maintained at all times.
- Identify and ensure fragile freight is appropriately marked and packaged to prevent damage.
- Ensure accurate and compliant waybill capturing during the documentation process.
- Assist with branch queries, complaints, and general freight-related enquiries in a professional and timely manner.
- Prepare freight and all relevant documentation for evening dispatch.
- Oversee depot and out-of-depot fuelling operations, ensuring controlled fuel issuance, accurate reconciliations, proper documentation, and compliance with company procedures. Monitor fuel usage, investigate variances, and support cost-control initiatives.
- Maintain high standards of housekeeping in and around the warehouse to ensure a safe and organized working environment.
- Promote positive working relationships while upholding professionalism, integrity, and ethical conduct at all times.
- Perform any additional duties as reasonably assigned by Management.
Requirements
- BGCSE Certificate or equivalent qualification.
- A tertiary qualification in the Transport or Logistics field will be advantageous.
- A minimum of five (5) years’ experience within the transport industry will be advantageous.
- Valid driver’s licence and access to reliable personal transport.
- Willingness and availability to assist outside of normal working hours when required.
