Maya Enterprises (Pty) Ltd is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Operations Manager to oversee pullet rearing and egg production operations. Maya has over 40k layers. Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the entire process of pullet rearing and egg production, ensuring optimal animal health and productivity.
  • Develop and implement operational strategies for improved production efficiency.
  • Enforce strict adherence to biosecurity, vaccination, animal welfare, health, safety, and environmental procedures.
  • Manage staff, including training, scheduling, and performance reviews.
  • Implement and monitor feeding, cleaning, and egg collection programs in line with schedules.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations related to animal welfare, food safety, and environmental standards.
  • Maintain accurate records of production levels, mortality rates, and farm expenses.
  • Liaise with suppliers, vendors, and clients, building strong relationships to support farm operations.
  • Prepare and manage budgets, forecasts, and financial reports.
  • Monitor input costs and optimize resource allocation.
  • Drive innovation and continuous improvement in pullet rearing and egg production practices.
  • Perform administrative duties, including preparing reports and maintaining farm inventory.
  • Operate farm equipment and manage maintenance of all farm infrastructure.

Requirements

  • Minimum of a Diploma in Animal Science or a related field is required.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in pullet rearing, egg production, or similar roles in poultry farming of which 3 should be at management level.
  • Strong knowledge of pullet production and poultry farming operations
  • Understanding of biosecurity, animal welfare, and food safety standards
  • Leadership and people management capability
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet production targets
