Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the entire process of pullet rearing and egg production, ensuring optimal animal health and productivity.
- Develop and implement operational strategies for improved production efficiency.
- Enforce strict adherence to biosecurity, vaccination, animal welfare, health, safety, and environmental procedures.
- Manage staff, including training, scheduling, and performance reviews.
- Implement and monitor feeding, cleaning, and egg collection programs in line with schedules.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations related to animal welfare, food safety, and environmental standards.
- Maintain accurate records of production levels, mortality rates, and farm expenses.
- Liaise with suppliers, vendors, and clients, building strong relationships to support farm operations.
- Prepare and manage budgets, forecasts, and financial reports.
- Monitor input costs and optimize resource allocation.
- Drive innovation and continuous improvement in pullet rearing and egg production practices.
- Perform administrative duties, including preparing reports and maintaining farm inventory.
- Operate farm equipment and manage maintenance of all farm infrastructure.
Requirements
- Minimum of a Diploma in Animal Science or a related field is required.
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in pullet rearing, egg production, or similar roles in poultry farming of which 3 should be at management level.
- Strong knowledge of pullet production and poultry farming operations
- Understanding of biosecurity, animal welfare, and food safety standards
- Leadership and people management capability
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work under pressure and meet production targets
