Requirements

  • A Master’s Degree in one of the following advertised specialisation areas, or in a closely related field:
    • Cybersecurity: cybersecurity, information security, digital forensics, computer science, computer networks or a related field.
    • Financial Technology: financial technology, finance, information systems, data science, business analytics, computer science or a related field.
    • Electronic Engineering: electronic engineering, electrical and electronic engineering, computer systems engineering, telecommunications engineering, or a related field.
  • A teaching qualification, such as a Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE), or evidence of formal training in higher education teaching and assessment will be an added advantage.
  • Membership of a relevant and recognised professional body will be an added advantage.
  • BQA accreditation, or eligibility for accreditation with BQA or another recognised qualifications authority.
  • Relevant industry certification in the area of specialisation will be an added advantage.
  • At least four (4) years of post-qualification experience in the relevant discipline, preferably including tertiary teaching, curriculum development, assessment, research or industry practice.
  • Demonstrable ability to teach and supervise student projects in subjects aligned to the candidate’s area of specialisation:
    • Cybersecurity: information security, network security, cyber risk management, digital forensics, ethical hacking and secure software development.
    • Financial Technology: financial technology, digital banking and payments, blockchain and digital currencies, regulatory technology (RegTech), financial data analytics and AI/ML applications in finance.
    • Electronic Engineering: analogue and digital electronics, embedded systems and microcontrollers, signals and systems, electronic instrumentation and Internet of Things (IoT).
  • Additional knowledge of cloud technology, data science, data analytics, big data, algorithms and data structures and software engineering frameworks will be an added advantage.
