PIT SUPERVISOR – Makoro Brick & Tile Plant

MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB
The Pit Supervisor will oversee and manage day-to-day operations
at our clay quarry, ensuring the safe and efficient extraction of clay
materials. This role requires strong leadership, knowledge of mining
processes, and a commitment to operational efficiency and safety.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Supervise and coordinate the daily activities of the mining pit,
ensuring efficient and safe extraction of clay materials.
• Monitor pit operations to ensure compliance with safety
regulations and company policies.
• Manage and maintain equipment, ensuring regular inspections
and preventative maintenance are performed.
• Collaborate with the operations team to ensure smooth and
efficient material flow for the brick manufacturing process.
• Provide leadership and support to pit staff, ensuring proper
training and development.
• Report on production targets, equipment performance, and
safety incidents.
• Manage stockpiling and quality control of extracted clay to meet
production requirements.
• Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and best
practices in mining operations.
• Ensures that all machine operators are well trained, licenced and
appointed
• Examines and inspect the pits every morning and ensures the
working place is safe as per requirements
• Enforces compliance as per Mines, Quarries, Works and Machinery
Act (CAP44.02)

QUALIFICATION & EXPERIENCE:
• BGCSE plus Diploma in Mining Engineering
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in mining and environmental
assessments.
• Proven leadership and supervisory skills in a quarry or mining
environment.
• Strong understanding of mining safety regulations and
environmental compliance.
• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Relevant certifications or qualifications in mining or a related
field would be advantageous.
