Bush Ways Botswana is looking for dynamic individuals with a passion for the safari industry. We are seeking an experienced and passionate Poler to join our mokoro operations team. The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of the Delta waterways, a commitment to guest safety, and the ability to deliver an authentic and memorable experience for our guests.
Key Responsibilities
- Navigate waterways using a pole to propel mokoros safely and skillfully
- Ensure the safety of all passengers at all times
- Share local knowledge and insights to enhance the guest experience
- Maintain cleanliness and integrity of mokoros and all equipment
- Enforce safety standards consistently across all operations
- Manage cooler boxes – packing, unpacking, cleaning and correct daily storage
- Prepare ice daily by filling and freezing water bottles
- Conduct monthly stock checks of the first aid kit
- Maintain a professional standard of conduct at all times
Requirements
- Prior experience as a Poler in the Okavango Delta
- Strong knowledge of local waterways, wildlife and environment
- Ability to adapt to changing weather and water conditions
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work well within a team and with management
- Professional presentation at all times
- Basic first aid knowledge advantageous
- Applicants must be citizens of Botswana
Salary
Compensation will be determined by the individual’s level of experience.
