PRINCIPAL PHYSICAL PLANNER I – Okavango District Council 498 views

Okavango District Council is seeking to appoint a PRINCIPAL PHYSICAL PLANNER I. Role Purpose: To promote sustainable utilisation of land through orderly development in order to provide a conducive physical environment for enterprise and environmental health.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manages and coordinates functions of the Physical Planning Division.
  • Liaises with the Director of Department of Town and Country Planning on Physical Planning and land use matters to ensure consistency in the implementation Physical Planning policies.
  • Orientates members of Physical Planning Committee PPC on all matters relating to land use planning and physical planning.
  • Provides professional advice to Physical Planning Committee to ensure informed decision making on land use issues.
  • Ensures proper assessment of items to the PPC.
  • Formulates policies and guidelines related to physical planning and development to direct development in the district.
  • Prepares terms of reference for physical planning and development projects.
  • Coordinates and monitors all physical planning development projects undertaken in the district by council, private, parastatal and government bodies to ensure conformity with approved plans and standards with a view to coordinating of settlement growth and development programmes.
  • Ensures adherence to environmental policies, programmes and standards in the preparation of development plans and project implementation.
  • Prepares transport strategy for the district in conjunction with other relevant stakeholders.
  • Prepares, implements, reviews District development plans.
  • Undertakes any other related duties as directed by management.

  • Qualification: Degree in Urban and Regional Planning or related field.
  • Requirements: Applicants must be registered with the Director of Town and Country Planning and must attach proof of valid registration.
  • Experience: At least ten (10) years relevant work experience (two) 2 of which should have been served as Principal Physical Planner II-D3.

Salary

D2 (P337, 008 – P371, 628) per annum
