Key Responsibilities

  • The position coordinates the delivery of management of the innovation district real estate assets for Botswana Innovation Hub Property (Pty) Ltd. The role is responsible for overseeing the strategic and operational management of real estate assets and innovation driven conferencing facilities. This role ensures optimal utilization, maintenance, and revenue generation from company-owned real estate assets meant to support the fostering of innovation and technology while maintaining high standards of operational efficiency. This is done to ensure the fulfilment of BIHP’s strategic and operational agenda which is aligned to the holding company’s (Botswana Digital and Innovation Hub) mandate.
  • Develops strategies to maximize utilization and revenue generation of conferencing facilities.
  • Manages supplier contracts and procurement for conferencing equipment and services.
  • Oversees effective implementation of innovation driven event hosting endeavours.
  • Manages vendor and service contracts related to conferencing and events hosting.
  • Ensures high service standards, technology readiness, and infrastructure maintenance for innovation driven events.
  • Coordinates with internal and external stakeholders to ensure seamless execution.
  • Identifies and recommends suitably qualified service providers and/or strategic partners to service the needs of the conferences and events management offering.
  • Conducts initial negotiations of contracts and agreements with service providers and strategic partners.
  • Oversees the maintenance of all relevant registers and other records in accordance with BIHP and BDIH policies to ensure high levels of accountability and responsiveness.
  • Leads and mentors direct reports, ensuring strong collaboration, team work and service delivery.
  • Advises BIHP on global trends by benchmarking best practice standards.
  • Support budgeting, cost control, and financial planning for real estate projects.
  • Facilitates with the drawing up of budgets and expenditure/revenue forecasts and general cost containment.
  • Actively pursues the drive to diversify alternative revenue streams for the Hub and its investment partners through maximizing the real estate assets.
  • Coordinates the billing process and makes all adjustments for utilities, service charges, levies and other recoverable expenses.
  • Carries out benchmarking and research to ensure alignment with industry and global standards as they relate to services offered and fees charged.
  • Supports marketing the Park and facilitates the design, development and operationalization of available plots at the Science and Technology Park. This, while ensuring that the Park is developed in accordance with the BIHP specifications to ensure the advancement of the strategic agenda of the BDIH.
  • Maintains records of Park assets and facilities in accordance with Hub policies to ensure high levels of accountability and responsiveness.

Requirements

  • At least eight (8) years’ experience in Real Estate management or related field, three (3) of which must be at management level in the property sector.
  • Strong knowledge of facility management, property development and property regulatory compliance.
  • Experience in budgeting, financial planning, and contract management.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Real Estate, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Membership of the Real Estates Institute of Botswana or similar body.
