PUBLIC RELATIONS & MARKETING MANAGER – Botswana Meat Commission

MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB:
To manage, direct and provide leadership on the Commission’s internal and external communication and branding efforts, including research, planning and development on specific area of responsibility.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement the Commission’s public relations, marketing and corporate communications strategies in alignment with its strategic objectives.
  • Lead initiatives aimed at strengthening and protecting the Commission’s corporate reputation and brand.
  • Develop and manage integrated marketing and communication campaigns across traditional and digital platforms.
  • Manage relationships with the media and coordinate media engagements, interviews, press conferences, press releases and other media activities.
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with key stakeholders, partners, government institutions, customers and the wider community.
  • Oversee the development of corporate publications, news-letters, brochures, presentations, promotional materials and other communication content.
  • Manage the Commission’s digital communication platforms, including website and social media channels, ensuring accurate and consistent messaging.
  • Develop and implement strategies to increase brand awareness, market visibility and stakeholder engagement.
  • Monitor public perception, media coverage and emerging reputational issues and advise management on appropriate responses.
  • Coordinate corporate events, exhibitions, campaigns, stakeholder engagements and other promotional activities.
  • Ensure consistency in the application of the Commission’s corporate identity and brand guidelines.
  • Develop and manage the Public Relations and Marketing budget and ensure effective utilization of resources.
  • Conduct market and stakeholder research to identify emerging trends, opportunities and areas requiring intervention.
  • Prepare regular reports on marketing, communications, media relations and stakeholder engagement activities.
  • Provide strategic advice to management on public relations, marketing, communications and reputational matters.
  • Coach and develop staff within the Public Relations and Marketing function.
  • Perform any other duties commensurate with the position.

Requirements

  • Minimum of Bachelor’s Degree in Communication, Public Relations, Media or any related field. A Master’s Degree in a relevant field will be an added advantage.
  • Professional membership or affiliation to a national/ regional body e.g. PRISA.
  • At least ten (10) years’ post-qualification experience with applicable knowledge of communication and public relations frameworks, including a minimum of five (5) years in a managerial or supervisory capacity.
