Organization Name: INSURE GUARD. Job Title: Recoveries Officer. The Recoveries Officer is responsible for managing the full recoveries process for the organisation, including claims recoveries, debt recoveries, and legal expenses recovery. The role ensures that all recoverable amounts including litigation costs, attorney fees, and disbursements are pursued effectively and in compliance with legal requirements. The objective is to maximize recoveries, reduce financial leakage, and support litigation processes where necessary.

Key Responsibilities

  • Pursue recoveries arising from claims, third party liability, and legal cost orders.
  • Manage legal expenses recovery, including attorney fees, court costs, and disbursements.
  • Draft demand letters, notices, and settlement proposals.
  • Support litigation processes, prepare case files, and liaise with external attorneys.
  • Track all recovery actions and prepare regular performance reports.
  • Trace and identify the party that is to be pursued for recovery.
  • Pursue resolution by investigating and evaluating legal liability and determining the case strategy as it relates to recovery opportunities.
  • Refer cases to lawyers for subrogation recoveries on selected cases.
  • Monitors recoveries collection matters in court and give updates.
  • Generate salvage recovery report and circulate report.
  • Identify bottlenecks in recoveries’ process and report to management.
  • Keep records of customer interactions and file documents.
  • Develop partnerships and communicate with insureds, witnesses, attorneys, underwriters, claims etc. as may be needed to secure information necessary to resolve assigned recovery cases.
  • Value and resolve cases within authority and limits.

Requirements

  • 2-3 years’ experience in recoveries, litigation support, debt collection, or legal practice.
  • Bachelor’s degree in law (LLB), Business Law, or related field.
  • Admission as an Attorney (advantageous).
  • Ethical, professional, and confidential conduct.
  • Excellent business judgment, analytical, and decision-making skills.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
