Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute the Financial Institutions sector strategy in alignment with Corporate & Investment Banking objectives and overall bank priorities.
  • Drive portfolio growth through client acquisition, wallet share expansion, and disciplined portfolio management.
  • Provide thought leadership and market intelligence on developments across banking, insurance, asset management, pension funds, development finance institutions, and the broader financial services sector.
  • Identify emerging opportunities, industry trends, regulatory developments, and competitive dynamics that impact clients and portfolio performance.
  • Represent the bank at industry forums, conferences, and strategic stakeholder engagements, positioning the bank as a trusted sector partner.
  • Lead and grow a portfolio of Financial Institution clients through strategic relationship management and proactive client coverage.

  • Originate, structure, and execute business opportunities across the full suite of Corporate and Investment Banking products, including lending, transactional banking, treasury, capital markets, advisory, and investment banking solutions.
  • Drive cross-sell and wallet share expansion by coordinating product specialists and internal stakeholders to deliver integrated client solutions.
  • Ensure client strategies and account plans are developed, regularly reviewed, and aligned to revenue and sector growth objectives.
  • Build and maintain strong networks across industry, regulatory, and market participants to generate business opportunities and enhance the bank’s market presence.
  • Act as the senior escalation point for significant client matters, ensuring exceptional client experience and sustainable long-term relationships.
  • Monitor portfolio performance against agreed financial, business development, and strategic targets.
  • Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing team comprising Lead Banker and Relationship Analyst.
  • Set clear performance objectives, provide ongoing coaching, and support career development and succession planning.
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, client centricity, and execution excellence.
  • Build sector expertise across the team through mentoring, knowledge sharing, and capability development initiatives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, Finance, Economics, Accounting, or a related field.
  • Postgraduate qualification (MBA, Master’s Degree, CFA, or equivalent) will be advantageous.
  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in Corporate Banking, Investment Banking, Financial Institutions Coverage, or Relationship Management.
  • Minimum 5 years’ leadership experience managing teams and senior client relationships.
  • Proven track record in sector leadership, revenue generation, portfolio management, deal origination, and client acquisition.
  • Demonstrated experience managing relationships within the Financial Institutions sector, including:- Commercial Banks
  • Development Finance Institutions (DFIs)
  • Asset Managers
