BASIC FUNCTION OF THE POSITION:
The Reliability Coordinator will be responsible for coordinating and implementing reliability and condition monitoring programs across the operation to improve equipment health, availability and asset performance. The role will be providing specialist technical support in the application of condition monitoring techniques, failure analysis and reliability improvement practices to identify developing equipment defects before functional failure.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Your key accountabilities include:
- Coordinating and implementing condition monitoring and predictive maintenance programs across critical plant and equipment.
- Performing and interpreting vibration analysis, thermography, oil analysis, ultrasonic inspections and other applicable condition monitoring techniques.
- Performing precision maintenance activities including shaft alignment and supporting machinery condition assessments.
- Establishing condition monitoring routes, frequencies, alarm limits and inspection requirements based on equipment criticality and failure risk.
- Analysing equipment condition trends and identifying developing defects before they result in equipment failure or production loss.
- Preparing equipment condition reports and providing clear recommendations to Maintenance and Operations teams.
- Ensuring identified defects are raised, prioritised and tracked through the maintenance work management system until close-out.
- Supporting Root Cause Analysis and equipment failure investigations and ensuring corrective actions address underlying failure mechanisms.
- Supporting the development, review and optimisation of preventive, predictive and condition-based maintenance strategies.
- Working with Maintenance Planners to ensure condition monitoring findings are translated into properly planned and scheduled maintenance work.
- Monitoring repeat failures, bad actors and equipment performance trends and driving appropriate reliability improvement actions.
- Supporting reliability improvement initiatives aimed at improving equipment availability, maintainability and asset life.
- Coordinating specialist condition monitoring and NDT service providers where internal capability is not available.
- Ensuring condition monitoring instruments and specialist equipment are correctly maintained, calibrated and fit for purpose.
- Maintaining accurate equipment condition history, inspection records, reports and reliability information within the appropriate systems.
- Developing and monitoring reliability and condition monitoring KPIs and reporting equipment health risks to relevant stakeholders.
- Coaching and mentoring Condition Monitoring Technicians and maintenance personnel in condition monitoring and precision maintenance practices.
- Supporting development of safe work procedures and technical standards for condition monitoring activities.
- Identifying opportunities to improve condition monitoring technologies, methodologies and reliability practices across the operation.
- Promoting a safety-first culture and ensuring all condition monitoring and reliability activities comply with MMG safety, statutory and environmental requirements
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS, COMPETENCIES AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED FOR EFFECTIVE PERFORMANCE:
- Diploma in Mechanical, Electrical, C&I Trade qualification or equivalent relevant technical qualification.
- Minimum of 7 years’ relevant experience in mechanical, electrical, C&I, maintenance, reliability or condition monitoring within mining, mineral processing or heavy industrial operations.
- Formal training or certification in vibration analysis will be highly advantageous.
- Thermography, lubrication analysis or precision alignment certification will be an added advantage.
- Reliability, Asset Management or Reliability Centred Maintenance qualifications will be an added advantage.
