Job Title: RESERVATIONS MANAGER
Location: MAUN | Reporting: YIELD, RESERVATIONS & SYSTEMS MANAGER
Purpose
Responsible for the efficient and effective day to day operation of the reservations team in line with the company reservations policies, procedures, and strategy. Has a significant impact on the overall revenue of the business.
Key Responsibilities
- Maximise the efficiency of the reservations team in terms of booking volumes handled.
- Ensure the reservations team provides industry leading proactive service, coupled with accuracy of information.
- Ensure that the reservations system is optimally utilized.
- Preparation and distribution of monthly Revenue and Occupancy report.
- Develop, implement and constantly evolve standard operating procedures.
- Manage distribution of rates.
- Assist the reservations consultants with debtors’ payment issues and ensure all payments are made in line with company terms and conditions.
- Monitor provisional holding times, over-bookings, occupancy limits, camp closures and waitlists. Take appropriate action to address any emerging situation.
- Manage any rate overrides in reservation system based on parameters agreed with Head of Sales.
- Cultivate excellent working relationships with Agents to ensure excellent customer service and revenue growth.
- Contribute to product development ideas and implementation.
- Assist the operations team with guest issues. For example, lost luggage, incidents, reservations queries, overbookings, and closures.
- Cultivate a culture of open communication and collaboration within the reservations team and other departments.
- Provide leadership, management and direction to all reservations & meet & greet staff. Lead by example in terms of professional conduct and appearance and carrying out duties and responsibilities.
- Provide continual feedback to staff on performance to encourage and motivate staff to carry out their tasks diligently and to the highest standards.
- Undertake periodic performance reviews in line with company policies.
- Make sure that all staff are aware of standard operating procedures and company policies and standards.
Requirements
- Degree in hospitality, Tourism management or equivalent professional qualification.
- Ten (10) years safari industry work experience in reservations or marketing.
- Five (5) years management experience.
- Excellent knowledge of the Res Request system as an added advantage.
- Proficiency in English – writing and linguistic skills, with a strong attention to detail.
- Demonstrated ability to handle crises.
- Ability to adapt to new or updated information systems and software.
- Planning and organising.
- A calm demeanor with an ability to work under sustained pressure.
- Strategic thinking.
- Independent and accountable.
