Key Responsibilities

  • Rigger Key Responsibilities:
  • Inspect and select appropriate lifting gear, including slings, shackles, chains, wire ropes, hooks and lifting beams.
  • Safely rig loads for lifting and movement.
  • Calculate load weights and determine the appropriate lifting equipment.
  • Ensure all lifting equipment is inspected, certified and fit for use.
  • Direct crane operators using standard hand and radio signals.
  • Assist in planning lifting operations and conducting risk assessments.
  • Ensure loads are balanced and secured before lifting.
  • Maintain lifting gear registers and inspection records.
  • Identify and report defective lifting equipment.
  • Adhere to all Mine Health and Safety regulations and company procedures.
  • Multi-Skilled Operator Key Responsibilities:
  • Operate up to 80 tons mobile cranes safely and efficiently.
  • Operate the following EMVs: Loader, Backhoe, Dump Truck and Skid skier.
  • Conduct daily pre-start inspections and routine equipment checks.
  • Ensure cranes are operated within their rated lifting capacity.
  • Read and follow lift plans and operational instructions.
  • Work closely with riggers and signalers during lifting operations.
  • Report equipment faults and maintenance requirements promptly.
  • Maintain operational records and inspection checklists.
  • Ensure compliance with all Mine Health and Safety and Safety regulations.
  • Participate in safety meetings, toolbox talks and risk assessments.
  • Keep the crane clean and in good operating condition.

Requirements

  • Rigger:
  • NCC or N3 equivalent.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience as a rigger in a mining, construction, or heavy industrial environment.
  • Knowledge of lifting equipment, lifting techniques and load calculations.
  • Ability to read and interpret lift plans.
  • Good understanding of occupational health and safety requirements.
  • Physically fit and capable of working in demanding environments.
  • Multi-Skilled Operator:
  • Valid 80-ton Crane Operator Certificate/ Licence.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience operating mobile cranes in a mining, construction, or heavy industrial environment.
  • Good knowledge of crane load charts and lifting procedures.
  • Ability to interpret lifting plans.
  • Physically fit and able to work in a demanding environment.
