Boteti District Council. Job Title: Senior Accountant. Role Purpose: Post tenable in Boteti District Council. MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB: To ensure that there are sound financial management and control over financial operations of various departments/Sections by managing the budget Administration revenue Management, Financial accouncting, investment, property and rates management, SHHA and payroll. Eligibility: Applications are invited from suitably Ministry of Local Government & Traditional Affairs employees only.

Key Responsibilities

  • Produces quarterly reports for Motor Vehicles Advance and Residential Property Advance for submission to the Ministry of Local Gorvenment and Traditional Affairs
  • Verifies and Authorizes all financial related documents
  • Produces and submits progress reports on the status of accounts
  • Designs, in conjuction with treasury staff, appropriate and measurable performance standards.
  • Preparers the cash budget and cash flow statement for liquidity purposes.
  • Monitors the budget during the year in comparison with the accounting reports to determine the utilization of allocated funds.
  • Inform user departments about the status of their budget and recommend alternatives incase of over/under spending.
  • Prepares the monthly and quarterly reports of revenue and expenditure statements for submission to the Ministry of Local Gorvenment and Traditional Affairs
  • Undertakes any other related duties as directed by management.

Requirements

  • Qualification: Degree in Accounting or related field and be registered with Botswana Institute of Chartered Accountants (BICA).
  • Requirement: Please attach proof of registration with BICA and confirmation of membership and in good standing with the institute.
  • Experience: A minimum of six (6) years of relevant work experience, of which two (2) years must have been served satisfactorily as an Accountant I- C1.

  • Qualifications supported by certified copies of certificates.
  • At least two (2) recent (12 months or less with dates) work related references.
  • Brief summary of careers with duties (provide updated CV).
