VACANCY | Senior Agronomist and Agricultural Economist

Sonne Harvest (Pty) Ltd is a Botswana-based agribusiness in Marokolwane near Rasesa developing a modern, technology-driven farming enterprise focused on high-value horticultural crops under greenhouse and open-field production with planned expansion into animal husbandry. Sonne Harvest aims to also support the broader farming community through provision of advisory services and training.

We seek a seasoned Agronomist and Agricultural Economist with proven experience in Botswana and the rest of Southern Africa to lead our crop, livestock, and advisory operations, and to contribute actively to strategic development and growth of Sonne Harvest across Botswana and the broader region.

Key Duties

• Oversee farm operations – planning, production, harvesting, marketing & administration.

• Manage greenhouse & open-field systems, fertigation & irrigation infrastructure.

• Integrate crop-livestock systems (small stock & cattle).

• Develop enterprise budgets, feasibility studies and economic models.

• Lead farmer training and advisory programmes.

• Promote climate-smart and precision-farming technologies.

• Support strategy formulation, growth initiatives and regional partnering.

Qualifications & Experience

• BSc in Agriculture, Agronomy or Agricultural Economics (masters degree advantageous).

• +15 years’ experience in farm management and/or agri-consulting.

• Strong technical & economic skills in crop, livestock systems and agrochemicals.

• Proficiency in MS Office and digital farm-management tools.

• Excellent leadership & communication abilities.
