Job Title: SENIOR ELECTRICITY & GREEN ENERGY INSPECTOR (INSTALLATION, PLANT, CONSTRUCTION) – VACANCY CIRCULAR NO 7 OF 2026

Role Purpose:
To inspect and investigate regulated businesses to ensure compliance with the Authority’s guidelines to avoid compromising safety and quality.

Key Responsibilities

  • a) Assesses engineering drawings to ensure that they are compliant with the codes and regulations set by the Authority and recommends authorization and licensing.
  • b) Coordinates with Electricity and Green energy licensees and suppliers to schedule inspections and collect data on their projects.
  • c) Conducts inspections and investigations of Electricity and Green energy sites and/or equipment to monitor and enforce compliance with the previously approved drawing, regulations, and codes.
  • d) Investigates incidents and responds to emergencies to better understand the situation, recommend solutions and corrective measure/or sanction if needed.
  • e) Selects the appropriate tests and applies it using specialized methods and equipment; validates and interprets test data to verify that regulations and codes are met and/or to identify remedial actions required.
  • f) Reports sites and/or equipment that are non-compliant with regulations and codes in the Electricity and Green energy sector to the Electricity and Green energy Engineer and recommends appropriate sanctions or/and corrective measures.
  • g) Consolidates data and findings collected from inspections, by developing detailed reports to submit them to the Electricity and Green energy Engineer.
  • h) Keeps records of inspections made and an accurate and timely log of actions and activities undertaken, in accordance with predetermined processes and protocols, to make sure that information is correctly stored and is accessible.
  • i) Recommends new test methods and procedures for Electricity and Green energy products incorporating new technologies and meeting changing organizational, customer, and/or regulatory requirements and in line with international standards.
  • j) Communicates with licensees to inform them of regulations and requirements and encourage their compliance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering.
  • A Master’s degree will be an added advantage.
  • Minimum of five (5) years’ relevant experience in a related role.
  • Mandatory registration with the Engineers Registration Board.
  • Relevant professional certification or membership with a recognised professional body will be an added advantage.
