The Senior Exploration Geologist will be responsible for contributing across all phases of exploration from greenfield early stage through to brownfield exploration targets, up to resource definition ensuring that KCM resource growth and development objectives are achieved throughout the project lifecycles. Khoemacau is a copper-silver mining operation located in the Kalahari Copper Belt of north-western Botswana. Key Responsibilities

  • Planning and executing exploration programs through integration and utilization of geological, geochemical, geophysical and topographical datasets.
  • Onboarding and organization of drilling, geological services, geochemical and geophysical contractors and ensuring that there are effective controls across the exploration programs.
  • Managing exploration programs from regional scale targeting through to resource testing and resource definition.
  • Ensuring that all exploration projects data, information, and databases are acquired correctly and securely managed as per approved standards and guidelines.
  • Ensuring data quality and sampling integrity through assurance of confidence in results, geological models and downstream development decisions.
  • Providing technical input into the exploration programs and contributing to geological interpretations supporting the progression from exploration targets identification to high confidence resource definition targets.
  • Working closely with cross functional teams including contractors, mine geologists, metallurgists, environmental, geotechnical and hydrogeological specialists to support technically robust exploration outcomes.
  • Identifying exploration business risk analysis, developing and recommending mitigation measures and optimizing opportunities.
  • Ensuring a cordial engagement and relations with landowners affected by exploration activities incorporating sustainable development initiatives within area of influence.
  • Ensuring application of best practice exploration techniques and innovative technologies.
  • Monitoring budgets, timelines and performance metrics to deliver projects safely and efficiently.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Geology
  • Master of Science in Mineral Exploration/Economic Geology would be an added advantage
  • Minimum of 10 years of exploration experience, sediment hosted base metals as an added advantage.

  • Proven ability to lead exploration teams and driving programs to deliver high-quality exploration outcomes
