Key Responsibilities

  • To teach a range of undergraduate and postgraduate Economics courses relevant to Science and Engineering programmes.
  • To work on curriculum development and the advancement of Economics for Science and Engineering majors.
  • Conduct individual research or work on interdisciplinary collaborative projects.
  • Contribute to the University’s performance in research and innovations through publications and other mechanisms.
  • To supervise undergraduate and post graduate students’ projects.
  • To source external research funding from national and international donors.
  • To participate in community engagement

Requirements

  • A PhD in Economics or relevant discipline from a recognized institution.
  • At least two (2) years post-doctoral experience in either teaching/lecturing/research or industry in economics. Two years of post-doctoral relevant industry/professional experience shall be equivalent to two years teaching experience.
  • Evidence of teaching Engineering Economics, Environmental and Bioeconomics, Financial Economics, Risk Management and Project Management.
  • Evidence of successful supervision of postgraduate students.
  • Record of at least eight (8) publications in ISI/Scopus Indexed journals.
  • Registration and accreditation as Assessor and Moderator by the Botswana Qualifications Authority is an added advantage.
  • Complete multiple assignments, maintain quality, work under pressure and adhere to deadlines
  • Adhere to HR policies, practices and procedures, and conform to professional standards and ethics
  • Apply interpersonal styles/methods to develop and motivate staff
