UMS Botswana Pty Ltd (a division of the UMS Group) is busy with an underground vertical shaft sinking project with JDS Energy & Mining Inc. (the EPCM contractor) for Lucara Botswana (Pty) Ltd at the Karowe Diamond Mine at Letlhakane in the Boteti sub-district. This exciting project is currently in the Main Sink contract phase. Shaft sinking and underground construction activities require critical skills and experience with an expert understanding of sinking methodologies, underground construction, mine health and safety, as well as contract management knowledge, which is essential. We are currently searching for suitably qualified and experienced candidates to be considered for the below positions in Letlhakane. Please note that all positions are project based.
The Quality Assurance Officer is responsible to core-rate quality on site through the implementation of quality processes and the provision of an advisory and reporting service and the maintenance and implementation of the Quality Project Management Plan. This candidate will report to the Safety Manager.

Requirements
- ISO 9001 Intro & Implementation Courses.
- Incident Investigation Course.
- Application of relevant ISO 9001 standards.
- Relevant qualification in Quality Management will be an advantage.
- Minimum 5-8 years’ of direct / practical site experience.
- At least 5 years’ post qualification experience, in the capacity as a Quality Officer in Construction/Mining/Sinking environment.
