SHAFT SINKING QUANTITY SURVEYOR – Ums Botswana 227 views

UMS Botswana Pty Ltd (a division of the UMS Group) is busy with an underground vertical shaft sinking project with JDS Energy & Mining Inc. (the EPCM contractor) for Lucara Botswana (Pty) Ltd at the Karowe Diamond Mine at Letlhakane in the Boteti sub-district. This exciting project is currently in the Main Sink contract phase. Shaft sinking and underground construction activities require critical skills and experience with an expert understanding of sinking methodologies, underground construction, mine health and safety, as well as contract management knowledge, which is essential. We are currently searching for suitably qualified and experienced candidates to be considered for the below positions in Letlhakane. Please note that all positions are project based.

The Quantity Surveyor is responsible for providing input with regards to the commercial and costing aspects of tender/works using the Company tools and templates for project controls. This candidate will report to the earthworks and civil supervisor and the UMS commercial manager.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree/diploma in quantity surveying or related field.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office and MS Project skills.
  • Minimum of 8 years’ post qualification experience in a professional quantity surveying business in a leading earthwork contracting environment as well as a shaft sinking environment is critical.
  • Sound knowledge of commercial & contract administration principles.
  • Proven in quantity take offs as well as experienced in international form of contracts in terms of contractual administration.
