The Site Supervisor is responsible for coordinating, supervising, and actively participating in daily fuel and lubricant handling activities at the mine site to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable operations. The incumbent serves as both the lead operator on shift and a hands-on executor, working directly alongside Fuel/Lubes Attendants to conduct fueling operations and manage the bulk product offloading process.
This role holds ultimate responsibility for the safe offloading of delivery trucks, compliance verification, and formal documentation sign-off. Additionally, the incumbent provides guidance to the shift team while ensuring strict compliance with Puma Energy SAPS, HSSE requirements, and operational procedures.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate daily activities of Fuel/Lubes Attendants, allocate work assignments, and monitor task completion.
  • Working directly alongside attendants, perform the actual physical work of fueling mine equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Ensure timely fueling of all mine equipment while monitoring dispensing accuracy and compliance.
  • Provide continuous on-the-job guidance, coaching, and mentorship to attendants on operational procedures.
  • Serve as the first point of contact and escalation for operational challenges during the shift.
  • Lead, supervise, and actively assist in the physical process of offloading bulk fuel and lubricant delivery trucks.
  • Hold sole accountability and responsibility for the authorization, verification, and final sign-off of all product offloading documentation.
  • Enforce strict safety protocols during the entire offloading window, including bonding, grounding, and spill containment setup.
  • Cross-reference delivery notes against physical tank dips and automated tank gauging (ATG) systems before and after offloading.
  • Conduct daily fuel and lubricant stock reconciliations, monitor stock movements, and report variances immediately.
  • Verify the precision of all fuel receipts, transfers, and issues, maintaining pristine operational records.
  • Perform fuel quality standards verification (e.g., visual checks, density testing) during receipts and dispensing.
  • Assist the Technician with comprehensive stock investigations, loss prevention initiatives, and monthly physical audits.
  • Promote a zero-harm safety culture among all shift attendants and external contractors.
  • Ensure flawless compliance with Puma Energy SAPS and HSSE standards.
  • Lead daily toolbox talks, pre-task risk assessments, and safe-work discussions.
  • Report, document, and assist in investigating near misses, unsafe acts, and hazardous site conditions.
  • Enforce 100% compliance with Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) requirements for all site staff and visiting drivers.
  • Coordinate and execute daily inspections of fuel storage, delivery infrastructure, and dispensing equipment.
  • Ensure strict adherence to inspection checklists and immediate reporting of any defects or leakages.
  • Maintain immaculate housekeeping and environmental standards across all operational and offloading zones.
  • Complete precise shift handover documentation and escalate unresolved customer or technical concerns to the Technician.

Requirements

  • Technical Qualification or Certificate in Mechanical, Electrical, Operations, Logistics, or a related field will be an added advantage.
  • Minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience in fuel handling, lubricant dispensing, depot operations, or petroleum logistics.
  • At least 1 year of experience in a senior operator, shift lead, or supervisory capacity.
  • Direct experience working within a mining environment is highly advantageous.
  • Direct expertise in bulk fuel dispensing, high-flow pumping systems, and tank farm configurations.
  • Profound knowledge of bulk fuel receipt procedures, safe truck offloading methodologies, and custody transfer documentation.
  • Strong stock reconciliation, dip-reading, and inventory data-entry skills.
  • Ability to handle physical labor (fueling equipment and manipulating heavy offloading hoses) alongside supervisory tasks.
  • Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word) and report writing.
