Wilderness Safaris Botswana is looking for a dynamic and energy packed suitable individual who is a self- motivated team player, dedicated and committed to providing excellent service within a high pressure environment. The individual should have the ability to interact well with guests from all parts of the world as well as the ability to form good relationships with camp management and staff.
We wish to invite suitably qualified candidates to apply for the below position.
Specification
PURPOSE OF THE JOB
Sommeliers possess in-depth knowledge and have a great understanding of wine, of which their mastery can be put to good use in a variety of settings. Their duty will be to provide the guests with professional yet personalised service, exposing guests to new wine experiences, maintaining front of house service standards and controlling beverage stock.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF POSITION
•Advise the guests according to their personal needs i.e. it can be related to their taste, the food and wine pairing, the occasion.
•Maintain front of house service standards as per minimum standards and expectations of the general managers.
•Work with Company Consultants to build and maintain a wine list fitting the service offering of the camp
•Manage beverage stock control and orders in the camp.
•Hold regular wine tastings for guests.
•Hold regular feedback meetings and wine training sessions with Front of House staff and managers.
•Be present at dinner services when not in a wine tasting.
•Record all guest wine preferences during their stay.
•Be present at lunch service when not in a tasting.
•Monitor cleanliness of wine equipment and bar equipment.
•Provide a personalised service to all guests.
•Take responsibility for cleanliness and hygiene standards in front of house areas.
•Be sensitive to any environmental issues whilst working and report any problems observed to management immediately.
Requirements
`MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
•Diploma in Wine Tasting / equivalent
•3 years’ experience working in a 5 star service environment.
•Experience with managing beverage stocks and orders.
•Front of house and service experience
•Experience managing people.
Competencies:
•Service excellence (Desire to enhance Guest Experience).
•Outstanding communication skills: At the heart of the camp’s operation he or she needs to be able to communicate with the staff, management, suppliers and guests. The sommelier needs to be quick to react to guest’s complaints and unusual service situations.
•Attention to details and situational awareness such that they are able to proactively anticipate guest needs.
•Leadership by example.
•Approachable: and able to share his or her knowledge with the staff and guests in a confident and professional manner.
