The ESG Specialist is responsible for integrating and managing sustainability within the company’s operations to ensure compliance with environmental, social, and governance standards. This role develops strategies to minimise environmental impact, promotes fair labour practices, and fosters community engagement. The ESG Specialist aligns business practices with sustainable principles, enhancing transparency and meeting evolving expectations in the diamond industry.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop ODC’s ESG strategy, ensuring alignment with goals and promoting ethical sourcing practices.
- Assesses potential ESG risks in the diamond sales industry and formulates effective mitigation strategies to ensure compliance.
- Implements monitoring and disclosure programs, crafting ESG reports to enhance transparency and stakeholder engagement.
- Conducts audits to ensure supplier compliance with ethical standards and implements responsible sourcing practices.
- Identifies and evaluates CSI opportunities to align the company’s actions with its values.
- Establishes partnerships with local businesses and integrates ESG considerations into daily operations.
- Builds and maintains strategic relationships with stakeholders to foster effective communication.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Sustainability, Social Sciences, or Business Administration.
- 3 years’ experience in ESG practices and sustainability within the mining or diamond industry.
- Proven experience is implementing and leading an ESG programme.
