Job Title: SPECIALIST UNDERWRITER – INSURE

Role Purpose:
To provide underwriting expertise to the Technical Underwriting Department by supporting the Sales Department in the fulfilment of client and customer needs.

Key Responsibilities

Price business in line with organisational underwriting and pricing guidelines.
Apply underwriting expertise and sound judgment to assess risks and write profitable new business within delegated authority levels.
Develop and maintain a profitable portfolio aligned with Company targets.
Determine renewal terms, including appropriate premium levels and policy adjustments, in accordance with departmental guidelines.
Conduct quarterly and ad hoc profitability analyses for assigned portfolios and provide insights to management and Sales.
Partner with Sales to support marketing initiatives and build strong relationships with brokers.
Engage brokers on market appetite, submission quality, profitability, service standards, and product or underwriting changes.
Collaborate with Sales to identify and pursue new sales and marketing opportunities.
Promote the Company’s products through professional networks.
Stay informed on industry trends and competitor activities.
Provide analysis and recommendations to support business decision-making.
Support the execution of the Company’s strategic objectives through effective underwriting and portfolio management.

Requirements

Bachelors degree in Commerce, Economics, Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
AIISA (Associate of the Insurance Institute of South Africa)
Minimum of 5 years post qualifications experience in commercial underwriting
