The Bank of Botswana invites applications from suitably qualified and self-driven citizens of Botswana to fill the following vacancy:

AML/CFT

Main Purpose of the Job:

Supervises and regulates supervised entities for compliance with the Financial Intelligence Act and Guidelines, attend to public complaints on perceived unfair business practices and general enforcement of related issues.

Job Requirements:

Master’s degree in Economics, Finance, Accounting, Business Economics, Banking, Commerce, Law, Business Administration, Management ora relevant discipline, ACCA/CIMA/ACA/CRA (Direct Entry)

OR

A Bachelor’s degree majonng in Economics, Finance, Accounting, Business Economics, Banking, Commerce, Law. Business Administration or Management plus two years post degree qualification experience.

Certified Anti-money laundaring Specilist (CAMS) will be an added advantage.

• Duties:
• Prepares AML/CFT nsk profiles of Supervised Institutions and preliminary nsk assessment to make a determination about potentially high-risks institutions and areas that require immediate attention.
• Plans and conducts AML/CFT risk-based on-site examinations of banks to verify compliance with AML’CFT laws and policies.
• Identifies possible violations or contraventions of the relevant AML’CFT legislations, and recommends appropriate action.
• Reviews developments in the AML/CFT international standards and recommends changes to the AML/CFT supervisory manual, to ensure alignment with the best practice.
• Carries out initial review of correspondence from supervised institutions and other stakeholders relating AML/ CFT issues.
• Guides supervised institutions on the technical interpretation of AML’CFT related laws and general regulatory frameworks.
• Ensures safe administration of funds ceased from illegal deposit-takers and processes claims for the general public, in accordance with approved guidelines.
