Supply Chain Manager wanted at DTC Botswana
Purpose of the Job
To coordinate and manage the supply chain processes for DTCB across all SCM streams which include all processes for procurement, inventory control, in respect of goods, materials and services and contract management.
Key Responsibilities
- Establishes and maintains effective relationships with all key stakeholders and partners (internal and external) to ensure achievement of business objectives.
- Provides annual cycle plan for scheduling support for goods and services and coordinates the forecasting process to meet customer deliveries.
- Manages and coordinates the safety, health and environment programme in area of responsibility.
- Researches and interprets changes in procurement and commercial standards and legislation
- Ensures section conforms to best practice
- Develops and reviews DTCB Supply Chain Policy to ensure that sourcing of products and services is undertaken in a cost effective and timely manner.
- Identifies, manages and monitors supply chain processes for compliance to risk management, corporate governance requirements, company code of ethics and Chartered Institute of Purchasing & Supply (CIPS) ethics.
- Manages and coordinates the supply chain function.
- Develops reasonable medium- and short-term purchasing objectives, terms and conditions to support business objectives in accordance with organizational policy and procedures.
- Monitors and evaluates supply chain operations and implements changes to improve efficiency
- Advises and offers supply chain management expertise to the business to ensure achievements of set objectives.
- Develops procedures for coordination of supply chain process and provides guidance to budget holders and end users.
- Monitors supplier performance to assess ability to meet quality and delivery requirements.
- Manages and provides effective procedures for system integrity and effective SCM database.
- Maintains high level of inventory management to ensure maximum utilisation of resources.
- Reviews monthly supply chain reports and takes corrective action.
- Analyses trends in the supply of goods and materials and assess possible impact on the procurement process and takes appropriate action.
- Manages the company supplier’s database process.
- Manages the standards function to ensure that catalogues, records and DTCB standards are maintained in line with group policies and best practice.
- Identifies, coordinates and manages the implementation of and adherence to legal and internal control principles/requirements in area of responsibility.
- Manages both SHE and Corporate Risk Registers as per company requirements.
- Formulates, develops and implements contract management and service level agreement procedures.
- Provides leadership in contract negotiations in order to reduce costs and achieve maximum efficiency.
- Manages on-site procurement by developing and implementing sound systems and processes
- Develops tendering procedures and manages the Tender Board Process in line with company procurement policies and best practice.
- Provides supply chain management expertise to all the cross functional sourcing teams.
- Is appointed the Tender Board Secretary with no voting rights.
- Ensures that the company assets are disposed of as per the company procedure and the international standards.
- Manages/implements knowledge management principles through application of tools and methodologies to continuously improve and sustain business performance.
- Identifies and implements creative and innovative ideas to continuously improve and sustain business performance.
- Manage and implement the sectional talent management initiatives by ensuring the right competence and effectiveness of manpower (capacity building) through developing and implementing career, succession, training and development plans.
- Manage the effectiveness of subordinates by setting, monitoring and reviewing performance and taking remedial action as necessary.

- Recommend and incorporate cost saving initiatives into budgets and control expenditure within approved parameters.
- Analyses the sectional area’s financial needs to develop a budget and ensures sufficient financial resources to meet business needs.
- Manages and controls allocated funds and operate within approved parameter.
- Interpret the operational requirements and integrate with discipline base financial needs to ensure availability of financial resources to meet business objectives.
- Initiates, monitors and controls short term sectional projects and ensures attainment of desired results.
Requirements
- Degree in Purchasing and Supply or related
- Membership to a Purchasing & Supply Professional Body
- 7 years’ post qualification experience in supply chain function of which 3 years will have been at middle management level
