Key Responsibilities

  • (i) Prepare teaching aides and instructional materials for classroom activities;
  • (ii) Assist and support assigned teacher with the implementation of developmentally appropriate learning experiences for young children;
  • (iii) Arrange and maintain a stimulating learning environment, including displays, learning centres, and bulletin boards and setting up for daily activities;
  • (iv) Ensure the care, organisation and upkeep of classroom resources, equipment, toys, and learning materials;
  • (v) Promote the safety, well-being, and supervision of children at all times;
  • (vi) Support the implementation of daily routines including transitions, meal times, hygiene practices and outdoor play;
  • (vii) Assist with special events, parent engagement activities, excursions, and other Child Development Lab programmes;
  • (viii) Sets up and puts away teaching aides and materials in a manner consistent with the goals and philosophy of the child laboratories;
  • (ix) Arrange the learning environment, including assembling and putting materials on bulletin boards and/or other classroom learning displays and keep such displays current;
  • (x) Participate in the identification and mitigation of operational risks;
  • (xi) Actively engage with the professional community to support and develop expertise in an area of the profession;
  • (xii) Comply with relevant regulations and legislation and
  • (xiii) Undertake any other duties as directed by the supervisor in line with their role.

Requirements

  • (i) A Certificate in Early Childhood Education/Development or an equivalent qualification;
  • (ii) A Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Development/Education or a related field will be an added advantage;
  • (iii) a teaching permit from the Ministry of Basic Education (MOBE);
  • (iv) Police clearance showing evidence of no prior criminal record;
  • (v) Experience working effectively with young children aged 2.5 to 5 years will be an added advantage.
  • Other Requirements: i. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively which children;
  • ii. Commitment to safety and adherence to relevant regulations and standards.
