To maintain a continuous watch of weather developments and record meteorological observations as per international relations and procedures prescribed by the World Meteorological Organisation as at a synoptic station (Meteorology Observatory)

Key Responsibilities

  • To make visual observation of meteorological parameters laid down by World Meteorological Organization procedures.
  • To issue routine meteorological reports and forward to end users.
  • To encode observed meteorological data into standard formats.
  • To perform basic quality control on meteorological data.
  • To file meteorological journals.
  • To launch weather balloon for upper air observations.
  • To write brief remarks of significant weather developments at the station during and at the end of the shift.
  • To maintain a station logbook to record all occurrences such as power failure, unserviceable instruments, time of commencement and ending of shift.
  • To perform minor maintenance of instruments at the station to ensure that readings are obtained.

Requirements

  • World Meteorological Organisation (WMO) Class IV course in Meteorology or produce other evidence of successful initial training, in any of the functional areas deemed equivalent to WMO Class IV
  • Experience: N/A.

Salary

P65, 508.00 – P76, 908.00 per annum
