Key Responsibilities
- Assess health status of the patient to identify needs;
- consult clients and determine nursing diagnosis through history taking and physical examination, analysing data and prescribing prompt treatment;
- provide life-saving measures during transportation of patients;
- dress wounds and remove sutures using aseptic technique;
- dispense prescribed drugs and give instructions on use;
- administer prescribed oral and injectable medications;
- administer patients’ treatment as prescribed;
- assess under-fives growth and development milestones;
- implement the Expanded Programme on Immunization (EPI);
- provide nursing care services in health campaigns;
- provide nursing care to critically ill patients;
- conduct mobile outreach services;
- order and collect specimens for laboratory investigations;
- conduct physical examinations and immunizations for school-going children;
- provide health education at individual, family and community level;
- implement and adhere to the Midwifery standards of practice of 2019.
Requirements
- Qualification: Diploma/Degree in General Nursing plus Post Basic Diploma in Midwifery. Registration: candidates must provide proof of registration with the Botswana Nursing Council and a Valid Practicing Certificate.
- Experience: At least two (2) years relevant work experience as Nursing Officer II / Senior Registered Nurse, or four (4) years in a relevant field.
Salary
C1 (P192,588 – P229,104) per annum.
