Job Title: Trainee Driving Instructor
Role Purpose:
The organization is seeking a motivated and responsible individual to join as a Trainee Driving Instructor. This is an opportunity for someone passionate about road safety, driver education, empowering new drivers with lifelong safe driving skills, and community development.
Key Responsibilities
- Planning and delivering driving lessons tailored to each learner’s ability and progress
- Teaching, training, demonstrating, modelling, illustrating, and clearly explaining driving concepts
- Introducing learners to the vehicle, including car components and controls
- Deliver practical & theoretical driving lessons that include introduction to driving fundamentals & teaching basic vehicle control.
- Instructing learners on various parking manoeuvres (parallel parking, bay parking, three-point turn, etc.)
- Applying and reinforcing driving theory and road safety principles during practical sessions
- Demonstrate and coaching learners in safe driving techniques, defensive driving skills and hazard awareness
- Maintaining accurate learner progress records and lesson reports
- Ensuring training vehicles remain clean, safe, and roadworthy
- Provide professional customer service to learners which includes being patient and supportive to all learners
- Support students in preparing for theory and practical driving tests
- Promote road safety awareness and adherence to traffic regulations
- Preparing structured lesson plans aligned with learner needs
- Conducting pre-lesson vehicle safety checks and delivering classroom/theory instruction where required
- Conducting practical driving sessions and demonstrating safe driving techniques before learner practice
- Observing, assessing, and providing constructive feedback and reinforcing traffic laws, road signs, and safe road behaviour
- Recording learner performance and progress
Requirements
- Minimum of a valid Class B driver’s licence (clean driving record preferred)
- Minimum senior secondary education (BGCSE or equivalent)
- At least 1-3 years of active driving experience
- Prior experience in teaching, coaching, customer service, or transport-related work will be an added advantage
- High level of integrity and professionalism
- Patient, calm, and supportive personality
- Strong sense of responsibility and safety awareness
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Self-driven and result oriented as well as punctual and reliable
- Knowledge of traffic laws and road safety regulations
- Ability to explain concepts clearly and effectively
- Observation and risk assessment skills
- Basic record-keeping and administrative skills
- Ability to work with diverse learners
- Preference will be given to the unemployed.
