Job Brief:

 

Cedar Wood Recruitment is looking for a reliable Maintenance Manager to oversee all installation, repair and upkeep operations of the company’s facilities. You will be the one to ensure that your colleagues have the best physical resources available to complete their duties according to budget.

Qualifications & attributes

The successful applicant must have formal electrical and/or refrigeration qualifications. Preference will be given to applicants that have in addition to the fore mentioned qualifications in Diesel & Petrol Mechanics with auto electrical experience.  Basic computer skills i.e. Microsoft Word & Excel, basic bricklaying & construction skills. A minimum of 5 years relevant working experience is a prerequisite.  He must have experience of management in the fields of: water reticulation; boreholes & sewage systems, generator electrical systems; general electrics, including air conditioning; plumbing; solar systems; vehicle maintenance and fleet management; carpentry; gas systems – geysers, stoves, braais, etc. A driver’s license is essential.

 

 

The right candidate will have a solid understanding of plumbing and electrical systems as well as carpentry and other crafts. They will be well-versed in all maintenance process and health and safety regulations. The ideal candidate will also have aptitude in undertaking administrative tasks such as reporting, budgeting and staff management. It is imperative that the applicant has strong organizational skills, capable of multi-tasking & have an uncompromising approach getting tasks done efficiently, in minimum time & setting high standards under the guidance of the General Manager. Have strong leadership skills & have the capability to motivate subordinates & maintain a positive working environment under pressure. The successful candidate must have initiative be methodical & be a self-motivated individual.

The goal is to ensure the company facilities are well-cared for and adequate to support the company’s business operations.

  • Ensuring the efficient usage of water and reducing any wastage
  • Ensuring the efficient usage of electricity and reducing any wastage
  • Ensuring the efficient use of fossil fuels and reducing any wastage
  • Ensuring that all litter is removed from the island in an environmentally friendly manner
  • Ensuring that all equipment be used and maintained according to operating instructions.
  • Ensuring to one understands the company’s environmental and conservation policies and adheres to them.

 

 

Health and Safety:

  • Ensure all health, hygiene and safety standards are adhered to
  • To ensure one’s personal health and hygiene and to understand that the company is committed to providing a healthy, hygienic and happy work place for all.

Maintenance Manager Responsibilities

Include:

  • Developing maintenance procedures and ensuring implementation
  • Carrying out inspections of the facilities to identify and resolve issues
  • Checking electrical and hydraulic systems of buildings to ensure functionality

  • Check electrical and hydraulic systems of buildings to ensure functionality
  • Plan and oversee all repair and installation activities
  • Allocate workload and supervise upkeep staff
  • Monitor equipment inventory and place orders when necessary
  • Monitor expenses and control the budget for maintenance
  • Manage relationships with contractors and service providers
  • Keep maintenance logs and report on daily activities
  • Ensure health and safety policies are complied with
  • Managing the maintenance department and its team, including staff training

 

  • Controlling departmental budget and managing suppliers & deliveries
  • Monitoring all lodge equipment to ensure productivity and safety
  • Overseeing all lodge facilities and maintaining building systems (heating, ventilation etc.)
  • Inspecting facilities periodically to determine problems and necessary maintenance
  • Monitoring inventory of materials and equipment
  • Participating in coordinaton of projects (e.g. renovations)
  • Ensuring adherence to quality standards and health and safety regulations
  • Hiring and supervising tradesmen during installations, repairs or maintenance (electricians, plumbers etc.)
  • Providing assistance on additional ad-hoc duties, as assigned by management
  • Hosting of guests in line with lodge requirements

 

General

  • Ensure that you are always neat, presentable and in full uniform.
  • You must act responsible and respectful at all times.
  • Ensure that your work station and work area is clean and neat at all times.
  • Perform all other duties that are required by management.
  • From time to time you may be requested to move to different properties.
  • You will be required to relieve in other areas should you be required.
  • To welcome guests in a warm and friendly manner, as if they were being welcomed into your home.
  • To work together to ensure first class service of all the guests.
  • To address and learn all the guests first names.
  • To constantly strive to predict and fulfill the guest expectations and ensure guests are 100% happy.

 

Salary  P15 000.00 – P 18 000.00 per month

100% medical aid contribution

1 x annual return flight to Johannesburg from Maun / Kasane

Hosting allowance of P250.00 per month

Housing on the property and meals

8 x Front of House Bed nights per Annum

3 months on / 28 days leave or alternatively 6 weeks on / 2weeks leave
