Job Purpose
Corporate Financing Solutions is responsible for all corporate and syndicated term lending, acquisition finance, leverage finance, structured term lending and structured trade finance to all corporate clients, private equity firms and investment holding companies and mid-cap corporates in all CIB jurisdictions. – Partnering with and supporting Client Coverage in the origination of Corporate Financing transactions/investments across presence countries and across sector/industry.
– Ultimately working towards assuming responsibility for managing all aspects of the transaction including initiating, structuring and obtaining internal approvals for Corporate Financing transactions.
– Coaching responsibility for more junior members of the team, supporting their development through practical experiences and guiding them regarding learning initiatives
Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities
Transaction/Deal management and execution responsibilities
On a specific transaction/deal the responsibilities will entail the following:
- Transaction modelling – modelling of client’s forecast cash flows to assess debt serviceability;
- Transaction structuring – appropriately structuring the transaction to meet client requirements and ensure deal remains within bank risk appetite;
- Through collaboration, driving cross sell across broader CIB and Group Bank Products to ensure that cross-sell opportunities are maximised;
- Determining transaction pricing (working with pricing desk and syndications);
- Where applicable, influence the formulation of the syndication strategy;
- Management of the governance processes which includes:
- New Business Approval Committee (“NBAC”) – preparation and review of all NBAC submissions, managing internal stakeholder input, presenting deal at NBAC forum
- Credit approval – engagement with credit teams around modelling and sensitivity analysis for purposes of credit submissions; addressing queries raised at relevant credit committe
- Manage the deal implementation and negotiation with client, advisors, lawyers;
- Overseeing transaction pay away – managing the process of CP fulfilment and pay-away in conjunction with IB Legal, TMU and Credit.
Leading and developing people and teams
- Management of deals and pipelines via Salesforce, providing updates to the relevant key stakeholders on key deals primarily product heads, regional IB heads
- Communication using appropriate and effective verbal, non-verbal, and written methods to achieve desired results.
- Lead and manage the relevant deal team to ensure that the expected deliverables are met.
- Transfer of skills and knowledge to junior team members, including the identification and socialisation of trends/risks the business face.
- Proactive and honest coaching and performance management of junior staff through the provision of ongoing constructive feedback.
Managing, maintaining and influencing stakeholder engagement
- Build, maintain and develop key relationships across the Bank with various stakeholders, having the intention of breaking down silos to maximise business growth through effective collaboration initiatives.
- Ownership of primary relationship with clients (in conjunction with Client Coverage) and manage all aspects of client interaction including coordinating and execution of transactions.
- Own the relationships with internal (e.g. Credit, IB Legal, Client Coverage, TMU, Funding, Distribution) and external stakeholders (e.g. external legal counsel, DD providers, other lenders, Sponsors, advisors).
Manage the risks in the business and influence
- Influence the development of risk metrics and risk appetite threshold setting for Corporate Financing Solutions, the broader Investment Banking and CIB.
- Drive and implement the culture of proactive compliance measures.
Achieving financial targets
Achieving financial targets through:
- the origination of transactions in collaboration with the broader Investment Banking and Corporate Banking teams;
- appropriate deal structuring to ensure capital efficiency and return maximisation; and
- efficient deal execution to optimise turnaround times whilst ensuring the delivery of quality work.
Preferred Qualification and Experience
Degree in Economics, Risk Management, Engineering or any Business related Degree, ACCA, CIMA Membership, CFA will be an added advantage
