BACKGROUND INFORMATION
Kagisano Society Women’s Shelter is a voluntary nonprofit making organization that exists to fight Gender Based Violence (GBV) in Botswana. In 1998, the Kagisano Society started the Women’s Shelter Project to respond to the cases of GBV, the first of its kind in Botswana.
To date, KSWS has concerned itself with the rights of men, women and children in Botswana. Through the provision of counseling services, temporary shelter, and outreach and education services. KSWS has become a safe haven for individuals experiencing GBV; ranging from Emotional, Physical, Sexual, to Economic abuse.
These are 6 months, full-time contract positions, with the possibility for renewal.
The position may require travel, with the possibility of working extra hours and in emergencies. Interested individuals are invited to send applications for the following positions:
OUTREACH OFFICER TENABLE IN GHANZI
Reports to: Outreach Coordinator, Gaborone
PURPOSE OF POSITION
●Carry out outreach activities in order to increase uptake of services and raise awareness on GBV
●To mobilize communities to utilize locally available resources to identify and respond to Gender Based Violence.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
●Provide Counselling services to clients of KSWS with GBV related issues.
●Produces timely monthly reports.
●Facilitates presentations that create awareness and prevention of GBV.
●Develops outreach plans based on case trends and needs of the community.
●Liaises with community and stakeholders in carrying out KSWS mandate.
●Assists in evaluating outreach services and make recommendations
●Participates in resource mobilisation efforts.
●Enters statistical data into agency database
●Supervises Community Mobilisers
●Undertakes any other related duties as may be required by the supervisor
QUALIFICATIONS AND WORK EXPERIENCE:
●At least a DIPLOMA in Social Work or Counselling.
●A minimum of 2 years work experience practicing in any of the above
●Experience in project planning and management is an added advantage
●Excellent professional conduct and an ability to handle confidential information.

WORK HOURS: FULL-TIME – 40 HOURS/WEEK
