Tsodilo Resources Limited is continuing its exploration activities in Botswana and requires the services or the following personnel for its Botswana operating subsidiary Gewihaba Resources (Ply) Ltd.

Project Manager / Chief Geologist

We are building a strong technical team in Botswana to undertake the safe prospecting and evaluation of the technical and economic viability of a potential iron ore development. An opportunity currently exists for Principal 1 Geoscientist in a role based locally in Botswana.

The position requires a highly qualified and experienced individual with iron resource N1 43-101 report writing experience, who will report directly to the Chief Executive Officer and Chief Operating Officer, and who w ill be primarily responsible for the implementation of the company’s exploration, extraction and mining programs within Botswana.

Initial prospecting activities will include resource development, resource project management, drilling and resource modelling; complemented with community and environmental characterization work.
The role will have an emphasis on Iron Ore with the key elements being

 

• Development of the company’s iron formation with Tier I potential to a feasibility level.
• Management of studies designed to identify the most practical and economic way to develop the projects in the region to a mine.
• Identification of potential targets for acquisition.
• Review and analysis of third party submittals.
• Participation in collaborative research projects.
• Contribution of specialist knowledge and expertise to the region thereby developing and enhancing the region’s technical capability and knowledge base. Provision of technical input to regional improvement initiatives.

You w ill be accountable for specific items of work such as

• Focus on developing new mining opportunities through development of resources.
• Initiate Preliminary Economic Assessments (PEA). Prefeasibility Studies (PFS) and Feasibility Studies (FS) to develop resources to reserves, and develop to mines in Botswana.
• Target generation, recommendations of acquisition or tenement application.
• Implementing regional best practice for discipline commodity by applying the technical standards and building regional capacity.
• Implementing new or refined technologies and techniques that facilitate discovery.
• Maintaining a network of discipline specialists throughout Industry, academia and external R&D providers.
• Provide leadership in MSEC.

To be considered for this role, you must have the following qualifications and competencies

• Post Graduate qualifications in Geoscience or equivalent.
• Is in good standing with a professional association for the purpose of being a ‘qualified person” pursuant to National Instrument 43-101 (Canada).
• Experience in generating Nl- 43-101 technical reports, experiencing in developing resources through Pre-Feasibility level to Feasibility level.
• Substantial experience of which 5 years is within a specialist area, in a resource development environment.
• In depth experience of the exploration process, with appropriate Exploration Competencies.

• Strong experience in practical field based geology, mineral exploration techniques including; mapping and structural geology; geochemistry; petrology studies; material type (tire) classification; ore body genesis studies; mineral processing; and geotechnical analysis.
• At least 10 years’ experience in the discipline Commodity / Iron Ore.
• Appropriate HSEC Competencies.
• Project Management and Leadership training.
• Competency with Vulcan or GoCad software.
