System/ Network Administrator

To maximise the availability and reliability of IT systems and applications, security and integrity of data, and to optimise the utilisation of IT facilities and resources through the cost effective implementation of IT procedures and a customer focussed delivery of end-user support.

• Carries out daily operational procedures to ensure integrity, reliability and availability of the system to maximise security and availability
• Organises and performs back-up procedures and checks integrity of data on continuing basis
• Executes data recovery procedures to recover lost or corrupted data as necessary
• Responds to end-user requests for assistance and advice and trouble-shoots, and rectifies problems
• Facilitates maintenance and updating of all operating systems
• Installs computers, networks, peripherals and software applications; tests and certifies work before commissioning

• Manages system security and issues access codes and passwords in accordance with authorities
• Organises the maintenance of hardware and liaises with suppliers on maintenance and repair issues
• Initiates, coordinates and follows-up ordering of computer equipment and consumables
• Monitors new hardware to ensure that the equipment operates in conformity with specifications
• Facilitates staff training in applications and assists in implementing staff training to enhance computer literacy
• Defines users and maintains lists of users, directories, desk space utilisation on servers and personal computers

• Degree in Information Technology or related computer area
• Minimum of three (3) years experience in a networked environment with strong hardware and software skills and ability to relate to end users

Must have experience in the following:

• Microsoft Windows Server Configuration
• Microsoft Exchange Server Configuration and Administration
• Server Virtualization

• IT Systems Disaster Recovery
• Local Area and Wide Area Network Administration
• IT Systems General Controls/Audits
