Wilderness Air Botswana is part of a multi-national operation that operates a varied fleet of light aircraft, chosen for their ability to transport visitors to remote wilderness destinations with short, dirt-surfaced landing strips. PURPOSE OF THE JOB
The role of a commercial pilot is to safely and economically fly guests to the different scheduled destinations. Prior to the flight, the commercial pilot is expected to check flight plans, ensure that the aircraft’s controls are operating efficiently, calculate the required fuel for the flight and take the responsibility of checking the weather conditions.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF POSITION
•Making sure all information on the route, weather, passengers and aircraft is received.
•Responsible to confirm the correctness flight plan, which details the altitude for the flight, route to be taken and amount of fuel required.
•Ensuring the fuel levels balance safety with economy and supervising the loading and fuelling of the aircraft.
•Making sure all safety systems are working properly.
•Briefing the guests/ passengers before the flight and maintaining regular contact throughout the flight.
•Carrying out pre-flight checks on the navigation and operating systems.
•Communicating with air traffic control before take-off and during flight and landing.

•Ensuring noise regulations are followed during take-off and landing.
•Understanding and interpreting data from instruments and controls.
•Making regular checks on the aircraft’s technical performance and position, on weather conditions and air traffic during flight.

•Reacting quickly and appropriately to environmental changes and emergencies.
•Updating the aircraft logbook and writing a report at the end of the flight noting any incidents or problems with the aircraft.

Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS
•2000 or more flight hours
•10 or more years’ experience in the Aviation Industry.
•10 years’ experience in Aviation Management position(s).
•Have knowledge in the development of operating manuals.
•Individuals with senior pilot experience will be preferred.

Job Purpose

The purpose of the job is to:

  • To assess, understand and manage the risks associated with telling transactions, and other functions carried out by subordinates
  • Authorise encashments of cheques; withdrawals referred by tellers within personal limit and according to laid-down instructions.
  • Refer cheque, card and savings withdrawals over authorised limit
  • Provide an efficient service ensuring accuracy of transactions, and where possible identification of migration and sales opportunities.
  • Monitor tellers’ productivity, service standards, quality and accuracy of work.

Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities

Key responsibilities include:

  • Assist in balancing of cash.
  • Monitor teller differences and ensure that laid down instructions are adhered to.
  • Scrutinise balance specifications.
  • Ensure cash summaries and indemnity forms are completed.
  • Attend to and scrutinise the locking away register.
  • Ensure that the frontline area presents a tidy, professional image to customers.
  • Distribute and read special alert circulars.
  • Update arrangements with companies and firms

Preferred Qualification and Experience

Preferred qualifications and experence include:

    • Business Related Degree
    • At least 2 years branch banking experience, with exposure to telling and customer service.
    • Institute of Bankers or related qualification would be an added advantage.

Knowledge/Technical Skills/Expertise

Technical Knowledge required is as follows:

  • Identify cross-selling and migration opportunities and sell products/services reactively.
  • Participate in tactical sales/marketing activities as required.
