The Botswana Red Cross society is National Society that was established by an Act of Parliament in 1968, as an organization auxiliary to government in the humanitarian field. The auxiliary mandate of the BRCS as stipulated in the Red Cross Act demands that It plays a pivotal role in complimenting Governments efforts in social services, disaster management and health services. BRCS service provision aims at preventing and alleviating human suffering, protecting life and health, and restoring dignity of the most vulnerable communities in times of peace and war.

The BRCS has vacancies for the following positions;

2 FIRST AID INSTRUCTORS tenable in GABORONE (1) AND FRANCISTOWN (1)

MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB:

To help the BRCS First Aid Programme to achieve its objective of saving lives by providing First Aid instruction and associated services

KEY PERFORMANCE AREA

• Provide first aid training to BRCS Volunteers, Government employees, school students, private sector companies or any other interested organisations or individuals, either on site or in BRCS premises,

• Schedule First aid courses,

• Prepare training materials. Fill first aid kits, maintain inventories of equipment, ensure materials are stored properly, and recommend ordering of supplies. Act as an examiner for the BDF, Prisons, Police, Mines, and other groups which conduct their own training

• Assist in promoting safety in the home at the work site and on the road through discussion, presentations, use of media and workshops

• Understand and Interpret policies and procedures as they apply to First Aid activities.

• Implement strategies and operating procedures for the society’s First Aid services and programmes

• Actively market First Aid services and courses to potential customers, through sending letters of introduction and brochures, or arranging appointments to speak to potential customers.

QUALIFICATION

Diploma in a medical related course with a valid Instructor’s certificate First Aid Level 2, and must be BQA Accredited

EXPERIENCE

A minimum of three years’ field experience, conducting both theory and practical lessons
